I am so glad that Ned Claxton is running to represent New Gloucester (and the rest of District 20) in the Maine Legislature because, boy, does Maine need people like him.
Claxton was one of the founding physicians of the noted Family Health Associates practice in Auburn, where my family has gone for decades. He was a terrific doctor, the kind people want. He listened respectfully, treated compassionately, solved problems successfully and made people feel safe.
It is the same now. He is clear about the issues that particularly drive him — medical costs and care, civility and rule of law in government, among them.
Watching him go door to door in New Gloucester, I have been struck as well by his sincere interest in talking with everyone, not just people who agree with him, and by his work ethic and his unflagging sense of humor.
Ned Claxton is a keeper.
