DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a Kenmore cabinet sewing machine with all the accessories that I would like to donate to a nonprofit organization. I can be reached at 207-783-3850 anytime.
—Normand, Lewiston
ANSWER: If you don’t get any takers, check with your nearest senior center, library or church. The Center for Women’s Wisdom on Blake Street also may be able to make good use of that sewing machine!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a Hammond home organ free to an individual or organization. This item would need to be picked up in West Minot. A pick-up truck is needed. It’s very heavy. Call 207-890-2062

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have years of Downeast Magazines from 2008 through 2012 that I would love to give someone who would enjoy them. Many of the articles are still relevant today. Call 207-946-5753.
—Barbara, Greene
ANSWER: If you don’t get a call from one of our readers, check in with the SHARECenter in Auburn at 207-333-6671. The SHARECenter provides materials to the schools and other educational centers. These magazines could also be used for art projects. Don’t let them wind up at the landfill!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Sumner Scholarship Fund is holding two fundraisers in September. On Sept. 3 at Buckfield Community Day, pulled pork sandwich plates including chips and a drink will be available for $8 each. Donations to offset the cost of the sandwich would also greatly be appreciated.
On Sept. 8, the annual bottle drive begins with drivers picking up bagged returnable bottles in Sumner. Bottles may also be dropped off at the Sumner Town Office or at Coach Terry’s Redemption Center in Turner. Volunteer drivers are needed for a few hours to collect bottles on assigned routes or to take bagged bottles from the town office to the redemption center.
All Sumner residents may apply for the annual scholarship awards. There are no age restrictions. Applications are available at the Town Office or online at www.sumnermaine.us and must be submitted by April 30. For more information on volunteering or donating, please contact Lee Berry at 207-388-2181 or Arlene Silverman at 207-388-2276. The Sumner Scholarship Fund Volunteers want to thank you for all your support in the past.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: A while ago, a reader wrote in about having a problem with squirrels in their house. I have something I bought at Aubuchon Hardware that I believe can help. It’s a Rodent Repeller and I think it’s the greatest thing! You will never have a squirrel, mouse, rat, fly, mosquito, ant, or spider in your house again. In large houses you might need two. I have one on the first floor and one on the second floor. Enjoy the results! Thanks ever so much for helping so many people. —Jeannine, no town
ANSWER: I believe Jeannine is referring to the Victor Heavy-Duty Pestchaser Pro Rodent Repellent. There are other brands, too. This bit of electronic technology plugs into an electrical outlet and emits high frequency sound waves that effectively repel rodents. You don’t hear a thing and it’s safe to use around your pets. It’s probably a good idea to make sure these are in stock before you head to the store as they are a popular item!
