AUGUSTA — Kennebec Valley Humane Society will participate in the national Clear the Shelters event by hosting Paws in the Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at the shelter on Pet Haven Lane.
The community-driven, nationwide pet adoption campaign seeks to match shelter pets with loving, permanent new families. Last year, more than 80,000 pets were adopted from over 900 shelters across the country.
As part of the event, KVHS will be waiving the adoption fee on all adult animals for the duration of the event. Kittens will have half price adoption fees and puppies will have regular adoption fees.
In addition to adoptions, KVHS will have food, music and a red carpet experience. There will also be $10 microchips available for any dog or cat.
All of the animals available for adoption at KVHS have been spayed or neutered and are up to date on routine vaccinations. To help advertise the animals available for adoption, KVHS has photos on their website at www.pethavenlane.org as well as on their Facebook page.
If people are interested in helping but cannot adopt, they are encouraged to make donation of money or supplies to the shelter or come in to volunteer their time.
