VASSALBORO — Bailey Plourde is used to being first at the Janet Drouin Memorial Open Championship.

She’s finished first each of the past three years, and in the first round of the tournament on Monday she was in the first pairing of the day. She finished the day in first, alone, with an even-par 72 on the Arrowhead course at Natanis Golf Course.

In second after the first day is Mia Hornberger, of Turner Highlands Country Club, who trails Plourde — this year’s Maine Women’s Amateur champ — by two shots.

Liz Coffin, of Bangor, is in third at 5-over, while Biddeford-Saco member Ruth Colucci is one stroke back in fourth.

Hornberger’s mother, Prudence, is in seventh at 8-over, one shot ahead of Winthrop resident and Portland Country Club member Carrie Langevin. Three other Turner Highlands members sit inside the top 20 heading into Tuesday’s second and final round — Ruby Haylock (84), Morghan Dutil (87), and Karen Richardson (89). Martindale’s Melissa Johnson is tied for 16th at 14-over.
