HEBRON — The 33rd annual reunion of the Warren family was held at Hebron Pines on July 22. This is a gathering of the descendants of the late F. Milton and Valerie Warren of Buckfield.
There were 172 people in attendance from Auburn, Augusta, Bath, Brownfield, Brunswick, Buckfield, Chesterville, Gardiner, Gorham, Greene, Hollis, Jay, Leeds, Lisbon, Lisbon Falls, Livermore, Lubec, Monmouth, Pittston, Sabattus, South Portland, South Berwick, Sumner, Turner, Wayne and Winthrop; Deering, New Hampshire; Brockton, Massachusetts; West Bridgewater, Massachusetts; Oberlin, Ohio; Saskatchewan, Canada; and some guests from the Bahamas.
The members that had traveled the farthest distance were the family of Heidi Warren Vayda of Oberlin, Ohio. Esther Robinson was the oldest member in attendance. The youngest was McKenna Cooper Reny, born May 29 to Laura and Marcus Reny of Turner (Laura Turner was the youngest member 32 years ago).
After a brief business meeting, five essays on the value of family were read. These were written by Andrew Warren, Rachel Warren, Bryce Pelletier, Taylor Ray Leavitt and Lindsay Ho. These high school graduates each received a gift towards their further education.
Darla Tabor read a touching letter by Pamela Gilbert, who was unable to attend, but the family celebrated her and Raynard Gilbert’s 50th wedding anniversary. Marie Allen did a humorous reading, “Dear Stanley.”
Dena Jewell shared some history of the annual quilts made for the auction. She had made the first one 21 years ago, and repeated the same brick pattern for this year’s.
The annual fundraising auction was conducted by Abe Additon. The quilt sold for $450. A braided rug made my Esther Robinson also sold for $450 and a lap quilt made by Beryl Robinson sold for $100.
During the past year the family has celebrated four weddings, six births, one adoption, nine high school graduations, one RN degree, one bachelor degree, one master’s degree and one Doctorate.
The total family count to date is 474. Next year’s reunion will be held at Hebron Pines on Sunday, July 21, 2019.
