BRIDGTON — Blaine Gordon Akerley, 80, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully after a short illness Tuesday, Aug. 7, at his niece Kelly’s home with his family and loved ones by his side.
Blaine was born Aug. 15, 1937, the son of Basil and Helen Akerley. He was a graduate of Edward Little High School.
Loved by the business, hot rod and motorcycle communities throughout the state, Blaine was a prominent businessman here in Lewiston for over 60 years at Lewiston Transmission. He rode his motorcycle with close friends every week up until his illness.
Blaine is survived by the mother of his children, Connie Akerley, of Arizona; sons, Scott and wife, Diann, of Lewiston and Stephen and wife, Tricia, of California; daughters, Doreen LaFrance of California, Shanna and husband, John Hunkins, of California and Melissa Akerley of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews and other family members, as well as many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Gerard.
