LEWISTON — Lorraine Patricia Bussiere was born in Auburn and resided in Lewiston for the last 40-plus years of her life. Patty passed away peacefully Sunday evening, July 29, with family members by her side. She was blessed to have had many special people in her life, from friends to family.
She was born to Helen and Bernard Grant as the youngest of five children. She is predeceased by her husband, Oliva L. Bussiere Jr., in September 2017. They were married for 46 years. She spent those 46 years raising a blended family, which included Earl Tibbetts, Richard Bussiere, Debra Decker and Kelly Johnson. She was blessed with six grandchildren: Michelle, Cheryl, Travis, Corey, Cortney and Owen. She also has numerous great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren.
Patty loved to celebrate life and she loved her family. She will always be known for her loving and generous nature.
Patty graduated high school from Monmouth Academy. She spent many working years at Knapp Shoe as a laborer in the shoe shop. She also became a CNA and worked at Clover Manor nursing home and performed private duty. She will be remembered for her love of cooking. She loved to try new recipes and loved to bake. She made wedding cakes that were truly her artistic expression. She did many birthday and specialty cakes over the years. She enjoyed making candy and cookies for many years. She also enjoyed numerous crafts, including crocheting, reading and doll making. She loved learning new things. Patty enjoyed being with friends and family, and enjoyed playing cards for hours at a time.
She was predeceased by her son, Earl Tibbetts, in 2015; her husband, Oliva Bussiere, in September 2017; and all four of her siblings: Sherman Grant, Margaret Thompson, Bernie Grant and Barbara Tillson.
She is survived by many who will miss her, friends and family alike.
As per her wish, she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Oliva, at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
