RAVENNA, OH — Jerry C. Howard died July 21 in Ravenna, Ohio, the place of his birth. He was born Dec. 7, 1928, to Charles Ernest Senerchia and Julia Maraszkiewicz. Following the divorce of his parents, his mother’s marriage to Ollie F. Howard in 1931 took them to Rochester, N.H., where Jerry received his early education and ultimately to Auburn, where he graduated from Edward Little High School in 1946 and Portland Jr. College in 1949.
Jerry had a lifelong love of airplanes and flying. As a boy he built many model airplanes with motors of all sizes, and in later years became involved with helicopters as well. He earned his twin-engine pilot’s license and later his flight instructor’s license. He attended Park’s Air College in St. Louis, Missouri.
Jerry married Lois Haddad in 1950 in Auburn and they were blessed with the birth of a son, Mark, two years later. Moving to Danvers, Mass., his advanced education was completed at Wentworth Institute and Lowell Institute, MIT, with a degree in electrical engineering. He was employed by Avnet and Arrow Electronics for many years.
In 1978, Jerry married Joan Bauer Luce in New Hampshire, where they lived until her death.
He is survived by his son, Mark Howard, and Mark’s mother, Lois Howard, both of Portland, a sister Eileen Paine of Auburn and a sister Charlotte Polizzi of Aurora, Ohio. Also four nieces, Kelly Higgins, Kim Odishoo, Krista McCormick and Kara Briggs. Jerry was predeceased by his parents many years ago.
