LEWISTON — Board members for USM LAC Senior College met recently to finalize plans for course offerings in the fall, plus the celebration of the 20th anniversary of its founding and to discuss their visions for the future.
The board announced that more than 20 courses will be offered beginning in September, including a course on current events, and others on “fake” news, the collateral consequences of criminal convictions and Green Dot Bystander Intervention Training. Gardening Potpourri will feature seven gardening experts on a variety of topics. Genealogists have advanced techniques training and a separate laboratory course. France is featured in Advanced Conversational French, a History of New France, and Discover the Local Franco-American Treasures.

USM LAC Senior College Mark will celebrate its 20th anniversary with festivities beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at USM, 50 Westminster St., Room 170.
From 1 to 3 p.m., there will be a program presented by the Korean Spirit and Culture Project. It will focus on King Sejong the Great, Everlasting Light of Korea, with authentic Korean costumes and a sampling of homemade Korean delicacies. At 3 p.m. formal anniversary celebrations begin with a reception and drawings for free memberships, free classes and a free print by artist Anita Poulin.
