LEWISTON — Margaret Donna Lombardi, wife of the late Rev. Anthony Lombardi, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, July 27.
Mrs. Lombardi was born June 11, 1931, in London, Ontario Canada, to Paul J. Smith and Iva (Murtaugh) Smith. She attended Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Missouri, and Westervelt Business College in London, Ontario, Canada. On Aug. 20, 1952, she married Anthony Lombardi of Staten Island, New York. She will be remembered for her loving service both to her family and to the church her husband pastored. In her later years, she cared for her invalid husband, attending to him faithfully when he entered a nursing home, where they both ministered to many of the residents over the years. During her last year, she assured her family that God had a purpose for her life and she was constantly on the alert for what work God had for her to do each day. She said when she had completed his work, he would take her home.
She truly believed in Psalm (138:8): “The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me; Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.” Her work is complete. God has indeed taken her home to be with Him.
She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. She will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Lombardi is survived by her three children: Mark and his wife, Terri Lombardi; Jane and her husband, the Rev. Bret McAtee; and John Lombardi; her sister, Jane Depp; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was recently predeceased by her brother, Paul Smith Jr., of London Ontario,Canada.
