WAYNE — The Cary Memorial Library will host its traditional Silent Auction from Aug. 2 to 11 at the newly renovated Williams House, across from the library, at 17 Old Winthrop Road off Route 133.

The opening reception is from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 2. Bids close at noon Aug. 11.

The library’s auction is well known for its display of vintage treasures from the camps and cottages of Wayne, as well as many handcrafted and distinct offerings. There will be a Sunfish sailboat with restored hull and fairly new sails and Red Sox tickets for Sept. 12.

Glassware, pottery, jewelry, framed art, furniture and needlework will be on display. Children’s items include collectible dolls and handmade American Girl doll outfits. Harry Potter wands will be back.

This year’s featured handmade children’s book, written by Pat Rochkind, introduces frogs, Felix and Flo, handcrafted by Jo Moore. The whimsical story relates the adventures of two polliwogs developing first into tadpoles, and then frogs, as they search for their new home.

“The Cary Library’s annual auction is a great way to catch up with neighbors and friends, support the library, and go home with some treasures,” Janet Adelberg, director of the Cary Memorial Library, said.

On Aug. 4, a Bake & Book Sale will be held at 10 a.m. and a lobster roll lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the library lawn.
