AUBURN — Rodney C. Bisbee, Sr., 76, of West Poland died Saturday morning, July 21, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Lewiston to Lewis and Myrtle Bisbee on Oct. 19, 1941. He graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1960.

In his teen years he worked at Pete Goulet’s store in Poland and Lobsterland, then started working in the woods with a team of horses and loaded trucks by hand. While working for Donald Holden in Norway, he started his own business, Bisbee Logging, which he continued to do until he retired.

In the 1970s he built his home in West Poland. He also worked with a forester, Wayne York, for Hancock Lumber. When he retired he worked for Jolly Gardener and drove dump truck for Peter Bolduc. He played baseball for the town team and for many years coached baseball for the Poland youth. He loved his family and enjoyed sports.

He was predeceased by his parents; his aunt, Hazel; and uncle, Raymond; his brother, Leland; and a great-nephew, Tyler.

He is survived by his brother, Dan, and wife, Betty Bisbee; his sons Rodney (Buzz) Bisbee Jr. and wife, Kelley, and Dan Bisbee and wife, Melissa; grandchildren Ryan, Zachary, Lily and Johnny Bisbee; two great-grandchildren; his goddaughter, Stacey Bisbee; many nieces and nephews; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; the love of his life, Vicki; and a very special girl, Val Ashcroft, his caregiver and friend.
