AUBURN — Diane R. Torres, 70, of Louise St. in Auburn died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, July 17, at her home. She was born in Lewiston on Aug. 30, 1947 a daughter of the late Romeo and Theresa (Lessard) Samson. She grew up in Lewiston and married Roger Torres, from Somerville, Mass., on Sept. 2, 1967. In her younger years she worked for St. Mary’s Hospital and a few other ventures before making a career as a devoted employee at Hannaford for over 25 years, retiring as the assistant manager of the bakery.
Dee was the matriarch of the family, she was everyone’s rock and caretaker, her home was her palace and it was always open to family and friends. She had a warm heart and was a very giving and caring person. She loved her family with all her heart and made it a point to do her best to attend all special occasions. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be truly missed. She enjoyed playing cards, spades, Scrabble, and cribbage. She also enjoyed crafts and all holidays and decorating for them, especially Christmas.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Roger of Auburn, her youngest sister, Sandy Sacco, and husband Gary of Poland, her two children, Michelle Miller and her husband, John, of Auburn, and Jayson Torres and his partner, Crystal Guilmette of Auburn, her seven grandchildren: Ashlee, Kourtney, Isaac, Kathryn, Emily, Kimberly and Alexis, her three great-grandkids Saige, Jeramy and Chandler, her nephews Toby and Todd and her nieces Jennifer and Melanie. She was predeceased by a sister, Linda Waters.
