OTISFIELD — Less than a week after closing the town beach on Pleasant Lake because of E. coli bacteria in the water, Administrative Assistant Anne Pastore said the beach is open again.
Pastore wrote on the town’s website that Friday morning’s test of Pleasant Lake “came back clean,” and that the beach would be reopened to the public.
She told the Board of Selectmen at Wednesday’s meeting that she tested the water earlier this week because some children complained that they got sick after going in the water.
The test water came back positive for E. coli, Pastore said.
However, she told the board that the initial test of the water may have been inflated because she forgot to refrigerate the sample before sending it to the lab.
