AUBURN — Robert P. Preo died Thursday, July 12. He was born July 1, 1945, in Auburn. His parents were Ralph Preo and Ruby Kinlin.
Bob married his childhood sweetheart, Carol LaChance, on March 21, 1964. Bob and Carol had four children: Lisa, Lauri, Rob and Karen. In 1962, Bob joined the U.S. Marine Corps, then, in 1964, switched to the U.S. Navy. In 1969, he joined the Navy Reserves to complete his 20-year career.
Bob also worked at BIW after completing machine technology at CMTC. He completed his associate’s degree in business management. Bob was an avid collector of music and an excellent historian. Bob loved working outside planting trees and flowers.
Bob’s greatest love was his grandchildren: Katelyn Belanger, Kayelin Ordonez, Amber Landry, Paula Caron, Jack Caron, John Kyle, Avery Preo, Betty Child, Bianica Dawkins and Eli Cardona; great-grandchildren: Kelby Grant, Jadien Ordonez, Willow Caron and Aleiya Ordonez; three nephews: Ron and David Preo and Donald Gayto; two nieces: Donna Basitien and Doris Cormier; sisters-in-law: Nancy and James Witherell, Tina and Richard Boulet, Dennis and Alicia LaChance.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers David Preo, Donald Gayton, Roland and Ralph Preo; sister, Beverly Mann; and aunt, Florence Nichols, who had a main role in raising Bob; and his grandmother, Carrie Mann.
