JAY — With more than 100 relatives and friends in attendance, Dick and Gloria Tardif of Jay were honored at LaFleur’s Restaurant with a delicious dinner buffet to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. The couple was married on May 11, 1968 at St. Mary’s Church in Wilton.

The event was hosted by the couple’s two sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Barbara Tardif of Greene and Jason and Andrea Tardif of Waterville.

The beautiful cake was a gift from Louise and Donald Oakes, and the floral arrangements, corsage and boutonniere were gifts from Elaine Henry and Karen Trask. The couple was presented with a decorative framed Papal blessing from the Vatican in Rome. This was from Diane Jannelle and Dolores Tuttle, as well as desserts and a heart-shaped peanut butter fudge. They also received many lovely cards and gifts.

Don Boudreau, an Elvis impersonator from Sidney, did a wonderful job performing and playing tunes from the Elvis Presley era.

Ray Ouellette of Jay made a video of the party. Duane, the eldest son, gave a humorous congratulatory speech and toast. Caleb Jordan also made some heart-warming recollections for his Memere and Pepere. Jason, the younger son, introduced Shepard Swain to give the blessing.

Dick and Gloria are parishioners of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay and have seven grandchildren. They are Caleb Jordan and his fiancee, Jordan Katzs of Wilton; Evan, Alex and Felicity Tardif of Greene; Logan, Colby and Trevor Tardif of Waterville.
