LEWISTON — Irene F. Bergeron, 92, of 102 Campus Ave. in Lewiston died peacefully at d’Youville Pavilion, with her family by her side.

She was born in St. Felix, Quebec, Canada, July 2, 1925, the daughter of the late Alexandre and Herminie (Gregoire) Verville and had been a resident of this community since 1966.

She was employed as a fancy stitcher in the local shoe industry for many years until her retirement.

On July 1, 1946, she married Emeril L. Bergeron; he died Nov. 24, 2013.

She was a member of the Auburn Bowling League, Lewiston Senior Citizens, Covenant 50, Holy Cross Senior Citizens, Horizon 55 and a parishioner of Holy Cross Church.

Irene was a very religious woman who enjoyed attending church daily.

She is survived by one daughter, Colette Cote, and her husband, Roland, of Lewiston; one son, Andre Bergeron, and his wife, Linda LaBrie, of Sabattus; one sister, Nicole Sabourin, and her husband, Victor, of St. Thomas, Ontario; one brother, Herve Verville, of Cornwall, Ontario; five grandchildren, Daryl and his wife, Mary, Jeffrey and his companion, Crystal, Alison and her husband, David, Ashley and her husband, Jordan, and Dorothea and her fiance, Jordan; five great-grandchildren, Anna, Amy, Makayla, Emily, Riley, Lucas and Penelope; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Therese Bergeron and Giselle Kennedy; and two brothers, Clement and Raymond Verville.
