NAPLES — A motorcyclist from Biddeford was crushed between two pickup trucks Thursday afternoon while stopped at a crosswalk on Route 302.

Stephen Caron, 58, was being treated for a traumatic head injury later Thursday at a Lewiston hospital, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. Police said he was not wearing a helmet.

Police said the first pickup, a Nissan driven by Malcolm Buchanan, 74, of Casco, was stopped on the Naples Causeway when the motorcyclist approached from behind and stopped. A second pickup, a GMC driven by Larry Huntly, 73, of Scarborough, struck the motorcyclist from behind, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Caron was taken first to Bridgton Hospital, then Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for traumatic head injuries, according to police.

Police said neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be factors in the wreck. It remained under investigation Thursday night.
