DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Clothing Center on Church Hill Road in Leeds is having a Bag Sale from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7. This clothing center is connected to Leeds Community Church and all the funds raised go to the food bank in that town. There are clothes for men, women, kids and babies. All you can fit into a bag is only $2 and there is no limit to the number of bags.

We also have household items, shoes, toys, books and odds and ends for sale at various prices. This is a great time to stock up. We have girls’ fancy dresses, evening gowns, coats, sweaters, maternity clothes plus a large assortment of 1X, 2X and 3X sizes. Clothing is on hangers or in boxes by size.

Thanks for helping us get the word out. The funds raised by the sale of these items stock the food bank and help a lot of people.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Could you find out why we don’t have a Cracker Barrel in Lewiston-Auburn? I had heard years ago that they were looking at land up near the Auburn and Lewiston turnpike exits to build a new location because the large Cracker Barrel sign would be visible from the turnpike, something I’ve heard is required when selecting locations. I haven’t heard anything lately, but it seems this would be a perfect area for one. Lots of travelers get off both exits to journey farther for seasonal adventures and I’m sure locals would enjoy another great place that serves breakfast all day for a good price. I enjoy shopping in the general store and relaxing in a porch rocker. Thank you for any information you can provide.

ANSWER: There are so many factors when it comes to deciding where chain restaurants are located along major routes. Individual municipalities, the Turnpike Authority and the company who owns the business all work together over many months, sometimes years, to pull everything together. Since I couldn’t find a definitive answer for you, you’ll have to be content with driving over to South Portland for your Cracker Barrel fix!
