LEWISTON — Christopher J. Chappell, 40, died unexpectedly Thursday, June 28.
Chris was born Aug. 30, 1977, in Lewiston. He is the son of Jeff and Cathy Chappell of Auburn.
As a child and teenager growing up in Poland, Chris enjoyed fishing with his dad, being with his cousins, playing football and baseball and skateboarding and snowboarding with his friends.
Kindness, generosity and the need to help others were foremost in Chris’ daily life. He loved music, especially the Grateful Dead, and had a passion for the outdoors, nature and rock collecting, Chris’ love for his daughters, family and friends was bigger than his heart, but addiction took over his life and crippled his ability to truly enjoy his children and family. Chris and his partner, Shannon Brady, his best friend and love of his life, were seriously trying to overcome their addictions.
Chris’ daughters Daisy Chappell-Lavoie and Maya Chappell and his family opted to turn their tragedy into a gift for others. Chris became a hero, sharing his organs with others awaiting, lifesaving transplants.
Chris will be deeply missed by his grandparents Claudette Perreault of Portland and Charles Chappell and Donna Mahoney-Chappell of Naples, Fla.; his parents and children; Shannon; beloved dog, Bustah; and all of his family and friends.
Thank you to the wonderful staff in the ER and ICU at Central Maine Medical center. Thanks to Chris’ friends, who came to say goodbye to him at the hospital.
Christopher J. Chappell
