LEWISTON — Harold W. Sargent, 69, died Wednesday, June 27, at Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born Jan. 1, 1949, in Bangor, son of Berphe and Josephine Marino Sargent. With a father in the service they traveled and lived in many locations before making a home in Rumford. He has lived in Bowdoin for the last 22 years with Laurie Cormier, the love of his life.
He was never a man who suffered idle hands. Before retiring from the State of Maine Transportation Department, he operated his own trucking company, H&H Trucking, Dresden. He was most recently employed with Rich Exterior, Portland, and for Harold Sandelin, Topsham.
Earlier in life, he was an active member of the Exiles MC of Maine and even founded the Augusta chapter, serving as its first president. He loved them as brothers, and after retiring kept many of them as lifelong friends. E.F.F.E.
In recent years he became a member of AA, approaching 10 years, and found his greatest joy in spending time with his family and youngest grandchildren, Gabe, Logan, Nevaeh and Liam. He enjoyed many trips camping at Moosehead and recently shared the excitement of Disney World with his family.
He was predeceased by his parents; two daughters, Sherrie Pierce and Jill Sargent.
He is survived by Laurie Cormier and her two children, John and Lorrie Cormier of New Gloucester and Heather and Kyle Pelletier of Topsham; two sons, Michael Sargent of Rumford, Dylanger Sargent of Fairfield; two daughters, Shannon and Gary Richards of Dixfield, Brandy Sargent of Brunswick; a brother, Richard, and Andrea Sargent of Chelsea; a sister, Patty Jodrey, of Rumford; 14 grandchildren; 17 great -grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Faye Davis; brothers-in-law Robie and Annette Davis, Jim and Jane Davis, Joel and Wendi Davis, Tom Davis and Lisa; his sisters-in-law Brenda and Gary Card and Mary Arndt. He leaves behind three very special friends, Henry Cormier, Ed LeBlanc and Mike Drapeau.
