AUBURN/LEWISTON — Pride L/A will host the second annual LGBTQ+ Pride March and Festival, Liberation for All, on Saturday, June 30.
The event’s title comes from a call for the LGBTQ+ community to be in solidarity with all social justice movements including racial, economic and disability justice.
The day will begin with a rally at 10:30 a.m. in Festival Plaza in Auburn. At 11 a.m., there will be a march across Longley Bridge to Lincoln Street, then into Simard-Payne Park in Lewiston, where the festival will be held from noon to 5 p.m.
The festival will feature entertainment, including a main stage with numerous local drag kings and queens, a talent show, a dance punk band and a comedian. There will also be a children’s area with a bounce house, Drag Queen Story Hour, face painting, a tie-dye station, and other games and activities.
Awards will be given for best dressed youth and best dressed adult. There will be food trucks, and local organizations and businesses will have tables with items for sale and information about area resources. Admission and garage parking is free.
Volunteers are still needed. For more information, go to pride-l-a.weebly.com, Facebook @PrideLAMaine or email pride.la.maine@gmail.com.
