AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St., has announced events for its Adult Summer Reading Program, running June through August. All of the activities revolve around this year’s national Collaborative Summer Reading Program theme, “Libraries Rock!” In addition to the programs, the library will have a continual display of books on musical artists, types of music and music history.

The adult program launches with a Summer Music Swap from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 11. Those with old CDs in good condition can bring and trade them for other CDs. This event is not a sale and is intended for trading.

The library will welcome artist and performer Marc Black for a history of the ’50s and ’60s through the performance of the popular music of those eras from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 18. Black, a recent inductee into the NY Chapter of the Blues Hall of Fame, has created an engaging and humorous program.

Kicking off a series of films, the library will show Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 25. This musical, set to late-period Beatles hits, recounts the story of Sgt. Pepper’s famed musical group, which found success during World War I bringing music to weary soldiers in the field.

The library will show the classic film “Saturday Night Fever” at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1. In the film, Tony Manero (John Travolta) doesn’t have much going for him during the weekdays. But he lives for the weekends, when he and his friends go to the local disco and dance the night away. When a big dance competition is announced, he wrangles the beautiful Stephanie (Karen Lynn Gorney) to be his partner.

The adult summer reading program concludes with a showing of “Grease” at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8. Experience the friendships, romances and adventures of a group of high school kids in the 1950s.
