DEAR SUN SPOTS: Regarding the June 22 Sun Spots, I have found that 20 Mule Team Borax is the answer to getting rid of fleas. Just sprinkle on carpets and floors, let set for several hours then vacuum. Repeat the next day. After that, once a week will take care of the flea problem.

ANSWER: That’s amazing! I wonder if it works for ants, earwigs, etc. Has anyone else tried Borax to get rid of unwanted bugs?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thank you for printing my letter asking about textile recycling. I had “re-used,” “re-homed” and “re-purposed” and was looking for a “rag-and-bone-man.” Goodwill Industries takes textiles that have reached the end of their usefulness and the Blue Jeans Go Green Recycling Program recycles old denim into insulation. A portion is then donated to Habitat for Humanity. Collecting and shipping old denim to Blue Jeans Go Green would be a great service project.

I hope you or your readers can help again. Our town doesn’t recycle the plastic bags that hold water softener salts, birdseed or dog food. We have to buy special town trash bags so we can’t re-use them for trash. Right now I have lots of bags that I hate to throw away when folks who have to buy generic trash bags can put them to use. Ideas? Takers? Thank you!

Do readers have ideas on how to recycle the sturdy bags that birdseed, pet food and water softener salt come in? They make great tote bags, lunch bags and more. Just cut to size and add handles. Have you checked out pinterest.com? There are loads of ideas there!
