LEWISTON — At its recent May meeting, the Maine Music Society elected officers who will steer the organization through its 28th and 29th seasons. Re-elected for another two-year term were Treasurer Gil LaPointe, Secretary Susan Trask and Chair Connie Hitchcock. Board member Sandy MacDonald was elected Vice Chair, replacing retiring Richard Wagner.
The Maine Music Society is a music-performing nonprofit located in central Maine that is organized to support the artistic and educational activities of the auditioned, volunteer singers of the MMS Chorale, the MMS Chamber Singers and the professional players of the MMS Orchestra.
They produce four concerts a year, all performed at Lewiston’s Gendron Franco Center. These include the ever-popular November a cappella extravaganza known as Battle of the Blends, the December Heritage Holidays concert in collaboration with a local high school choir or community group, the March classical concert with orchestra and professional soloists, and the June popular music event.
The Maine Music Society serves Lewiston-Auburn and the area communities by bringing quality performances to the public through artistic excellence, imaginative programming, and educational and youth-oriented activities.
