LEWISTON — The Lewiston Public Library’s Children’s Department will host its annual summer reading game from Monday, June 25, to Saturday, Aug. 18.

Those reading two hours per week get a small prize at the end of each week with the possibility of even bigger raffle prizes. Those who participate all eight weeks get a special prize at the end of the summer.

Throughout the summer, the library will host free programs and events full of music, energy and fun. Some of them include:

Michael’s Rockin’ Juggling Comedy Show — 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, Callahan Hall. A variety of juggling skills performed to music comprised of patterns and rhythms.

Conjuring Carroll Family Magic Show — 11 a.m. Thursday, July 5, Callahan Hall. This program demonstrates that many magic tricks have a science and mathematical basis.

Origami Stories — 11 a.m. Monday, July 9, Callahan Hall. Christine Petrell Kallevig folds giant-sized paper as she tells stories. Each fold illustrates an action or character from the story, so by the time the story is over, a surprise origami figure will be created.

Mr. Drew and His Animals Too — 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14, Callahan Hall. Mr. Drew will bring a menagerie of animals from around the world in an educational, family-friendly hands-on show.

Tickets for these performances are available in advance on the third floor and those with tickets will get into Callahan Hall first.
