BOWIE, Md. (AP) — Chad De La Guerra hit a two-run home run and had two hits as the Portland Sea Dogs topped the Bowie Baysox 5-3 on Sunday. With the victory, the Sea Dogs swept the three-game series.
Bowie had a runner on second in the bottom of the ninth, but Erick Salcedo flew out to end the game.
Portland took the lead in the first when it exploded for five runs, including a two-run home run by De La Guerra.
After Bowie scored a run in the second on a home run by Martin Cervenka, the Baysox cut into the deficit in the ninth inning when Audry Perez hit a two-run home run.
Portland southpaw Matthew Kent (4-4) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing one run on just three hits over six innings. Opposing starter Lucas Long (1-8) took the loss in the Eastern League game after a rough outing in which he allowed five runs and seven hits over four innings.
With the win, Portland improved to 4-2 against Bowie this season.
