SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Robert Gary Gray, 56, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 10, at Saratoga Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct. 28, 1961, in Norway, the son of Hazel Toothaker Gray and the late Gary R. Gray.
Robert spent a majority of his life on the open road. Learning to drive trucks while in the Army, he then went on to drive everything from commercial rigs to shipping horses all over New England. When Robert was not driving truck, he found time for his true passion of racing harness horses, a tradition that his father passed on to him and then he passed to his children. Robert cared deeply about the horses in his care, but always made time for those who needed a hand at the racetrack.
Robert was a man who was selfless; he gave much to his work, his family and friends. Robert was deeply loved by his pets, who always greeted him with hugs and kisses. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sheryl Gray; daughters Dawn Gray, Mikayla Gray; son, Zackary Gray; sisters Patricia Mandeville (Scott), JoAnn Nichols (Butch); brother, John Gray (Omar Vazquez); mother-in-law, Patricia Phipps; devoted friend, Jim Nickerson (Heidi); along with many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gary R. Gray.
