PARIS — Residents on Tuesday approved a retail marijuana ordinance by a vote of 511-263.
The ordinance sets parameters on locations, licensing and operations, and covers retail marijuana cultivation facilities, stores, product manufacturing and testing facilities.
Marijuana social clubs are prohibited, according to the ordinance.
The ordinance also states that any person who has been a resident of Maine for at least four years, is at least 21 years old, undergoes a background check, and has at least 10 percent ownership in the establishment, can apply for a license to operate a retail marijuana establishment.
Voters also approved an amendment to the recall ordinance that allows recall School Administrative District 17 directors. The vote was 416-264.
Board of Selectmen Chairman Rusty Brackett was re-elected to a three-year term with 739 votes. He was unopposed for the three-year term.
