LIVERMORE — Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap presented ballot clerk Muriel Bowerman with the Spirit of America Foundation Award on Tuesday.

The Spirit of America Foundation was established to encourage and promote volunteerism. The award is presented annually to individuals, organizations or projects in recognition of community service.

Bowerman is head of the Livermore Historical Society. She has served on the Appeals Board and been part of the Pollard Scholarship Committee.

“Muriel has been working within the town for a very, very long time,” Town Clerk Renda Guild said.
