A pair of former New England Patriots will be golfing for a cause at Martinedale Country Club in Auburn next Monday.
Max Lane and Garin Veris will be playing as part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine’s Androscoggin Golf Fore Kids’ Sake event on Monday, June 18.
Lane played 100 regular-season games and seven playoffs games as an offensive lineman with the Patriots from 1994-2000.
Veris started in Super Bowl XX. The defensive end had 32 sacks in six seasons with New England, from 1985-91.
“We are excited about this tournament and having the chance to help children in the area by playing a round of golf,” Lane said. “These one-on-one mentoring programs are so important to provide children positive relationships and role models, and they offer children the benefits someone investing in them and their future.”
At Androscoggin Golf Fore Kids’ Sake, foursomes of golfers from Lewiston, Auburn and surrounding communities will raise funds to support youth facing adversity in the Androscoggin community.
There are still openings for businesses, organizations and individuals are invited to participate. To register, contact
Androscoggin manager Jennifer Cartmell at 653-3857 or at jennifer@bbbsmidmaine.org.
