MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls Historical Society recently hosted a talk by Capt. Jonathan D. Bratten, command historian for the Maine Army National Guard.
He spoke on the 103rd Infantry Regiment and the unit’s involvement during World War II, particularly on the Pacific front. Bratten said many members of the regiment who began training at Camp Blanding, Florida, in the spring of 1941 did not return home until the autumn of 1945. The regiment’s motto was “To The Last Man.”
Anyone is interested in the CD, PDFs or both of Bratton’s hourlong talk may contact Eriks Petersons at 345-3134 or email nepesons@myfairpoint.net.
The society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at the Anglican Church of the Transfiguration, 64 Elm St.
Maine Army National Guard Command Historian Capt. Jonathan Bratten talks with Sylvia Willey Bosse of Norway at the recent meeting of the Mechanic Falls Historical Society. Bosse’s father, Sgt. Warren G. Willey, served in the 103rd Infantry Regiment, which was Bratten’s topic.
