PARIS — Residents will decide whether to enact a retail marijuana ordinance, amend a recall ordinance and choose officials at the polls Tuesday.
Balloting will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Fire Station on Western Avenue.
Code Enforcement Officer Kingston Brown said at an April public hearing that the ordinance would set parameters on locations, licensing and operations, and cover retail marijuana cultivation facilities, stores, product manufacturing and testing facilities.
Marijuana social clubs would be prohibited, according to the ordinance.
The ordinance states that any person who has been a resident of Maine for at least four years, is at least 21 years old, undergoes a background check, and has at least 10 percent ownership in the establishment, can apply for a license to operate a retail marijuana establishment.
Residents will also vote on whether to amend a recall ordinance enacted in 2010. Now, residents cannot recall School Administrative District 17 directors. The amendment includes school board directors.
In municipal elections, Board of Selectmen Chairman Rusty Brackett is running unopposed for another three-year term, and SAD 17 Director Sarah Otterson is running unopposed for a two-year term.
Darren Boyce and Brad Frost are running for two open seats on the Paris Utility District board of trustees.
