LEWISTON — Androscoggin Bank announces the recipients of its biannual grant awards by Greater Giving.
The community impact program focuses on supporting nonprofits and organizations that benefit the community in three specific areas: economic development, education and the arts.
The Greater Giving awards committee approved grants to the following organizations:
• Sandcastle Clinical and Educational Services of Lewiston — $2,500 to help complete a planned project to build an outdoor educational environment, allowing all children to learn and play, regardless of ability or limitations.
• The Public Theatre of Lewiston — $2,500 was awarded to provide an opportunity for all Lewiston/Auburn elementary school students to attend a presentation of the inspirational “Everybody Loves Pirates!” The performance which will teach students about respect, compromise and caring for the environment.
• Lewiston High School — $700 was awarded to provide financial support to students who will be visiting the Morse Mountain Conservation Area this summer. This trip will be an opportunity for students to apply classroom learning to the natural world.
• Literacy Volunteers — Androscoggin, Lewiston — $1,500 was awarded to provide free, one-on-one tutoring and educational resources for adults and families in Androscoggin County. The Greater Giving grant will support their efforts as they invest in new technological resources and training for their team of volunteers.
The deadline for the second cycle of 2018 grants is June 30.
