OXFORD — Joe Figueroa, 50, of Oxford passed away Thursday, May 31, at his home, surrounded by his family and loved ones, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Belle Glade, Fla., on Sept. 22, 1967, the son of Tino and Jeanie Figueroa.
He moved from Florida to Maine, attended school in the Oxford Hills area and graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1987. He started out working at Betsey’s Country Store and continued to be a dedicated employee of C.N. Brown for 15-plus years.
He will be remembered for his mischievous sense of humor, outgoing personality and love for life. Everyone loved Joe. Through the years, Joe enjoyed woodworking and always had several projects going at the same time. He also had a passion for all music, movies and snow globes, as could be witnessed from viewing his extensive collections of each.
Joe’s children were his fur babies, and over the years he had several cats and dogs. Joe could be seen dancing it up on the dance floor at the Silver Spur, where he met his companion and love of his life, Etta Trask. A few of his favorite summer activities were camping, kayaking and fishing, along with going to yard sales and thrift stores. Joe will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
