NORWAY — The Western Maine Art Group begins its summer season with a First Friday Reception, June 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. at both the 426 Main Street Gallery and the Matolcsy Art Center, 480 Main St. Both galleries will be exhibiting the work of fine artists and artisans living and working in Western Maine.
Featured at the Main Street Gallery are the photographs of Steve Traficonte, Western Maine Art Group’s Artist of the Month. Traficonte is a prize-winning fine art landscape photographer. For this exhibit his work will be a series of small works printed in black-and-white, including 15 13-by-15-inch prints celebrating the natural magnificence of our local landscape.
In addition, the Matolcsy Art Center will display newly acquired artworks from the permanent collection of the Western Maine Art Group.
Mosaics, landscapes, figurative paintings, still life paintings, and jewelry are among the arts on display.
The Main Street Gallery is open Tuesday-through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For more information, art classes, demonstrations, and special trips sponsored by the WMAG visit westernmaineartgroup.org and Facebook, Main Street Gallery. The gallery is free and open to the public.
