TURNER — By the numbers, students at Leavitt Area High School had a very busy year.

For last week’s School Administrative District 52 board meeting, Superintendent Kimberly Brandt assembled a list of their accomplishments:

• Juniors and seniors completed more than 106 college/dual enrollment courses;

• The school administered 136 AP exams;

• 11 students participated in recent National Technical Honor Society ceremonies;

• 287 out of 551 students participated on at least one athletic team; and

• The school’s one-act play troupe was runner-up in the regional class A festival.

Closing out the year, 94 percent of the senior class has post-secondary education or military plans.

She also said the school would start a Jobs for Maine Graduates program next fall.

Two other numbers at the meeting, this time regarding dates: On June 1, the adult education graduation is scheduled for the Leavitt’s auditorium with U.S. Sen. Susan Collins as guest speaker. And from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 4, Maine State Police Detective Abbe Chabot will be at Tripp Middle School in Turner to talk to parents of sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders about technology and child safety.

Brandt said the middle school is hosting the talk for the first time.

“We always want to increase awareness,” she said. “There was nothing else that prompted it, but I am very glad it is taking place.”
