RUMFORD — Gregory W. “Grampa Greg” Gallant, 61, of Rumford, passed away Wednesday, May 23, at his residence following a brief illness, with loving family by his side.

He was born in Rumford on July 10, 1956, a son of Sylvester J. Gallant and Laura Giambattista.

Greg was educated at Rumford schools and a graduate of Rumford High School class of 1975. Greg also received an associate’s degree from Central Maine Technical College.

He was employed at Irving Wood Products in Dixfield.

Greg was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior.

He loved hiking and lifting weights, but most of all he loved spending time with family and chilling with his friends.

He is survived by his fiancee, Jen Cauvel, of Pennsylvania; his children: Gregory Dupree of Jay, William Gallant of Pennsylvania and Sarah Gallant of Pennsylvania; siblings Beverly Gallant and husband, William, of Rumford; Rendell Heath of Rumford; Roger Heath and wife, Christi, of Rumford; Delores Fourcaudot and husband, Louis, of Madison; Joyce Toddish and husband, Jeff, of Machias; and Janet Gardner and husband, Mark, of Rumford; and one grandson, Tyler Gallant.

He was predeceased by his parents.
