ENGLEWOOD, Fla. — Shelton Eugene Beardsley, 89, of Sandy Hook, Conn., Rotonda West, Fla. and Livermore, passed on Sunday, May 6, in Englewood, Fla.
Shelton was the son of the late Alice Shelton and Edward Beardsley and a sibling to Orlen Beardsley, Nancy Fallenbeck and the late Edward Beardsley Jr.
He was born Nov. 1, 1928, in Derby, Conn. Shelton was a kindhearted man who had a great sense of humor and was always willing to help others. He enjoyed working with his hands and was skilled in all areas of the trades. He could fix or build anything.
Shelton especially relished summers in Maine with his wife and family and enjoyed playing cards. Shelton was a steam fitting foreman for Mitchell and Bailey Inc. in Bridgeport, Conn. for over 30 years. He belonged to Local Plumbers Unions 173 and 777 and served in the Navy in World War II.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dawn (Christian) Beardsley, 86; his two children, Dawn Beardsley Shortt of Englewood, Fla., and Keith Beardsley of Boston, Mass.; and his two grandchildren, Alixandra and Rory Shortt.
