CANTON — George E. Latham, 80, a former resident of Jay, passed away Friday, May 18, at Pinnacle Health & Rehabilitation Center in Canton. He was born May 9, 1938, in Jay, the son of George S. Latham and Evelyn P. (Spiller) Latham.

He was a 1956 graduate of Jay High School. Following graduation, George proudly served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. George worked in the grocery industry for many years at Giguere’s, Sampson’s and Hannaford, and later worked at McDonald’s in Jay.

He was a life member of AMVETS Post 33, Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post 3335 and the George Bunton Post 10 American Legion. George enjoyed going to dances and listening to music on Friday nights at the VFW.

He is survived by his brothers Clarence Latham of North Turner and Lloyd Latham and his friend, Deborah Tinker, of Jay; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Evelyn Latham, and sister-in-law, Linda Latham.
