LIVERMORE — An Andover man was killed when his vehicle collided head-on with a pickup at 5:41 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Federal and Canton roads in Livermore, police said Saturday.

Bertrand E. Nickerson, 57, was traveling north on Federal Road when his 2007 Toyota Avalon made a left turn in front of a 2014 GMC pickup driven by David Plummer, 56, of West Bath.

Nickerson died while being taken to a hospital, according to Androscoggin County Lt. Glenn Holt.

He said Plummer, who was driving south on Federal Road at the time of the collision, was treated at the scene.

Federal Road was reduced to one lane at the intersection for four hours Friday night while the crash was being investigated by the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, Holt said.

The accident is being reconstructed by Maine State Police.

Deputy Michael Mejia is the primary investigator, and the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office is asking for any witnesses to contact them about the crash, according to Holt.

Mejia can be contacted at 207-753-2596.
