Students at Burchard A. Dunn Elementary School in New Gloucester planted fruit trees this spring with support from the local nonprofit program ReTreeUS. Varieties of apple, peach, pear and plum trees were planted. Each orchard has a designated orchard caretaker at the school or partner organization that works with ReTreeUS staff to provide ongoing maintenance and learning opportunities.
