Congressman Bruce Poliquin is at it again, signing on to a U.S. House of Representatives resolution that would grant amnesty to illegal immigrants.
The procedure used for this measures is known as “Queen of the Hill,” akin to the child’s game “King of the Hill.”
In that scenario, four bills would be voted on and the one that gets the most votes above the 218 threshold passes (there are 435 members of Congress, so 218 is the minimum for a majority).
H.Res. 774 does not give the details of three of the proposals, only the names of the sponsors: Democrat Lucille Roybal-Allard of California; Republican Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, and Republican Jeff Denham of California, but Congressman Denham’s website gives the reason for “Queen of the Hill” to “allow the House of Representatives to consider solutions for DACA recipients and DREAMers, border security, and broader immigration issues, which the majority of Americans agree should be addressed.”
The website conservativehq.com, with an article titled “Paul Ryan’s Parting Gift To America: Amnesty For Illegal Aliens,” states H.Res. 774 includes provisions for amnesty for DACA recipients and for the DREAMers (Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors).
DACA was the executive action taken by President Obama in 2012 to defer deportation for illegal immigrant children/teenagers. DREAMers are similar, but will expand the classification to total 3.2 million illegal immigrants.
Congressman Poliquin should withdraw his name from that onerous legislation.
