AUBURN — Maggie Scattoloni of Wales died Monday, May 7, at the Hospice House in Auburn after struggling with chronic illness for several years. She was 83 years old.

Maggie was born in Bangor, daughter of Alfred and Louise MacDonald, on Feb. 22, 1935. She grew up in Springfield, Mass., and graduated from the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing in 1957. She worked as an RN at Central Maine General Hospital in Lewiston and then at Togus, VA, from which she retired.

She was instrumental in establishing the La Leche League chapter in Columbus, Ohio, a cause that she was passionate about. Her favorite hobbies included birdwatching, gardening, crossword puzzles, “Jeopardy,” quilting and road trips.

Maggie was predeceased by her husband, Bob, and brother, Paul MacDonald.

Maggie is survived by her sister and brother; eight children; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
