LEWISTON — Museum L-A wants to hear from the community about what they want to see its future new museum be as it honors the past, remembers the people and inspires the future.

A community forum will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, in the Gallery at Museum L-A, 35 Canal St., to hear from the public and give updates on where the museum is in the planning. Staff needs input from all ages, walks of life, ethnicities and future thinking.

For years the museum worked to save the history of the communities, starting as a Museum of Textiles and the Industrial Revolution. It soon expanded to become a Museum of Work and Community. Staff wanted it to stay in a mill and stay downtown. The new site at 1 Beech St. on the riverfront accomplishes that.

The exhibit planners, EXP Studios, will be at the meeting to walk through scenarios as well as look at drafts of some possible new exhibit designs.

Museum L-A is located in the Bates Mill Complex at 35 Canal St.

Representatives from EXP Studios present the process for exhibit designs to board, staff and community members.
