The work of artist Cory Tancrede is on display for the month of May in the Gritty’s Art and Ale window in Auburn. She is exhibiting her underwater turtle series with “Gigantor,” an acrylic painting on a 4-by-4-foot canvas, the centerpiece of the display. Tancrede, a hairdresser at Snip-Its in Portland and an art party leader at Wicked Illustrations, has assisted in two mural projects in Lewiston, one on Centreville Garage and one on Rainbow Bikes. She also painted the turtle-themed fire hydrant on lower Lisbon Street. Her husband is a native of Lewiston and retired from the Air Force, which allowed them to travel throughout Europe and then to Hawaii, where she discovered her love of turtles and sea life.
