State police diver Detective Michael Chavez pulls a safe out of the Androscoggin River in Canton on Thursday morning. The safe is reportedly related to a theft and criminal mischief investigation from October 2016, according to the Rumford Police Department. The case, still an active investigation by the Rumford Criminal Investigative Division, will be presented to a grand jury for felony indictments once completed.
