NORTH MONMOUTH — Leopold “Paul” Rudolph Joseph Soucy, a resident of Monmouth, earned his wings on Friday, April 27, after a four-year battle with stage IV colon cancer.

He was born to Alexander and Jeannine (Cloutier) Soucy on Jan. 26, 1966, in Lewiston, and was educated in Lewiston schools. Paul worked for many years for Steel Service Center. He also worked for Michael’s Pool & Patio and Valmet Fabrics up until his diagnosis in March of 2014.

Paul was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and four wheeling. He was great at wood-working and construction, and enjoyed projects at his home which were completed very precisely and accurately, a skill he was taught by his father for many years. One of Paul’s greatest pleasures was having friends and family over for bonfires. He very much enjoyed the company of others. Paul would often spend his days outside “puttering” with his best buddy “Ozzy,” a pup he got at 8 weeks old and has never left his side.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl, of North Monmouth; step-daughter, Chelsea Smith, and her companion Marcus Diaz of North Monmouth and his two sons, Zavier and Devonte; step-daughter, Kaeti Butterfield of North Monmouth; sister, Joann Soucy, and her daughter Heather Cote both of Monmouth; and sister, Kristine Davis, and her daughter, Lauren, both of Lewiston; sister-in-law, Lisa Fisher and her husband, Craig, of The Forks; his father and mother-in-law, Buzz and Donna Yates of Leeds; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was predeceased by his father, Alex; mother, Jeannine; a brother, Joseph Soucy; and an infant niece, Heather.
