Robin Dow Seniors to hold luncheon

Pickwick Club to discuss Hartley book
AUBURN — The Pickwick Club, Maine’s mainly Dickens reading and discussion group, will meet from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Auburn Public Library.
The book for discussion will be “Dickens and the House of Fallen Women” by Jenny Hartley.

Auburn Art Club annual banquet planned
AUBURN — The Auburn Art Club will meet Tuesday, May 1, at Rolandeau’s Restaurant, Washington Street. There will be a brief business meeting at 11:30 a.m. followed by luncheon at noon.
Following lunch, Jude Lamb, storyteller and historian, will give a presentation.
Lamb was born and raised in western Maine. She now lives near Acadia National Park. Growing up reading was her favorite pastime. While in her 30s Lamb wrote her first children’s book about a Maine bear. In 1996 she entered the College of the Atlantic to study art, writing and other subjects, graduating in 2000.
Today Lamb has six grandchildren. They are her inspiration to write and illustrate children’s books.
Hostesses will be Kathy Cutter, Jan Sullivan, Renee Bonin, Louise Reynolds, Jeanne Laliberte and Elizabeth Bell.

SOUTH PORTLAND — Girl Scouts of Maine has announced that it will host open houses for Sprouting Daisies for girls who are entering kindergarten or first grade, and their families.
Tuesday, May 1: 6 p.m., Sherwood Heights Elementary School, 32 Sherwood Drive, Auburn.
Wednesday, May 2: 6 p.m., Elm Street School, 129 Elm St., Mechanic Falls.
Thursday, May 3: 6 p.m., Henry L. Cottrell School, 169 Academy Road, Monmouth.

Auburn Church collecting hygiene products
AUBURN — The Auburn United Methodist Church is supporting the Center for Wisdom’s Women by helping supply hygiene products for the women that they serve.
Requested donations include shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, body wash, disposable razors, lotion, lip balm and feminine hygiene products.
Donations can be dropped off at 439 Park Ave.
