MILFORD, Mass. — Betty (Kershner) Whitney, 86, of Milford, Mass., formerly of Bellingham, Mass., passed away Friday, April 20. She was surrounded by family and friends at her Cornerstone residence in Milford. She was the wife of the late Lawrence W. Whitney who died in 2007.

Mrs. Whitney was born Aug. 3, 1931, in Farmington, the daughter of the late George W. Kershner and Annette (Hutchinson) Kershner Mosher. She was a graduate of Husson College, Bangor, Class of 1951.

Betty was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, watching birds and baking. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Milford.

Mrs. Whitney is survived by her son, Steven G. Whitney of Uxbridge, Mass.; her daughter, Pamela W. and her husband, Walter Perry of Bellingham, Mass.; her sister, Sandra Snowden of Jay; six grandchildren, Andrew Whitney of Indio, Calif., Jessica Kaplan of Phoenix, Ariz., Jason Perry of Francestown, N.H., Evan Whitney of Orange, Calif., Alyssa Perry of Brooklyn, Conn., Katarina Whitney of Uxbridge, Mass.; and two great-grandchildren, Arron and Benjamin Kaplan of Phoenix, Ariz.
